GOAT Review: Venkat Prabhu’s Fan Service Extravaganza, but Not Without Its Flaws

The Greatest Of All Time is a proper Venkat Prabhu film for Thalapathy fans. GOAT has all Venkat Prabhu mark twists with references and elevations for the fan but it can also tire you and probably exhaust you if you are not fond of Vijay and you’re watching a 3-hour Vijay extravaganza.

GOAT might just be the most polarising film, GOAT is what Guntur Kaaram should’ve been but fans didn’t defend it. From 0.5/5 to 5/5 people are calling GOAT a pathetic mess to CINEMA™️. GOAT is not a bad film in any sense but it is how a Thalapathy film should be and it serves its purpose, Venkat Prabhu delivered what he promised. GOAT is a proper Venkat Prabhu Hero, he managed to add the most amount of fan stuff that would make fans fap and the neutrals not get too annoyed by the fan-pleasing elevations and references.

From here there might be some spoilers so here is your Spoiler Alert warning ‼️

The basic premise of GOAT is Gandhi is an undercover SATS officer and in one such undercover mission he loses his child his wife abandons him and he leaves the force the film follows the revival of the son but is he the cute 5-year-old Jeevan that they lost, you have to find out.

Vijay’s performance as Gandhi is exceptional, he does what his fans want from him and more. Now Vijay as Jeevan is a pack of surprises. The first one is how much they rectified the damage it certainly is better than what people thought a colossal mess it would be. The Second one is the negative shade he portrayed he pulled it off seamlessly I wish it had made him even more ruthless and brought him the Beast of a protagonist and antagonist. Irrespectively Venkat Prabhu managed to pull off this with his kind of twists and genre shifts that work sometimes and don’t work most of the time but I guess that’s a heads-up everyone would have before stepping into A Venkat Prabhu Hero.

That’s it there is nothing else to talk about a Vijay film apart from Vijay. People come for Vijay they see Vijay do Vijay they either have a ball or cringe and leave. The political references were great but Vijay needs to take a lesson or two on how to integrate political agenda in a smooth way so that all your fans follow you furthermore.

The rest of the cast were decent enough they got decent roles did their job and left including Yuvan, nothing pathbreaking or extraordinary just normal work.

Although Meenakshi got more screen time in this one but still gives the girl a main role already. It’s a crime not to mention the abomination the post-credit scene is, why would anyone want to kick themselves in the gut?

The film ended on a solid note leaving people something to take home but why would you add that clone idea and ruin the audience experience I bet no one would’ve liked it because according to Anna he’s only making one film more and no one wants it to be GOAT vs OG have some empathy towards audience everyone wants to give Thalapathy a good send off to politics at least for a while eventually he’ll come back but hope he doesn’t hope he has good political career and for a change atleast 0.0001% of change in society. Sarcastically or seriously TN07CM2026….
